Coffee and Flowers from 2003 or 4. This was painted from a bad photo where there was some flattening of contrast and enhancing of blacks. Nothing was staged and the cup of flowers, the cup I made as well as this painting.
Bad photo of a good painting by me. It is fairly large 40 x 60 ish.
Art 123 beginning Painting, this student completed this from start to end without going over anything more than twice. I remember her doing it all at once.
A good student in my beginning painting at University of Hawaii. There are always more than a few good ones. She is painting from her computer screen. This was our final painting.

Welcome to Bumpsquash blog, the first in a series relating to art and various surf related activities. We are evolving and the word Bumpsquash is a functional design description for a surfboard with obvious absurdist overtones. The image to the right is a pastel drawing of mine titled Seen and Heard describing itself and a scene and herd situation. I am a fan of the blog as a DIY aesthetic and social fabric. The drawing is of an installation in New York City installed at David Zwirner Gallery by the artist Rirkrit Tiravanija. Rirkrit built a plywood box cafe and served thai food for free. The group pictured seemed bright and engaged reveling in the gesture. This is the spirit of this blog.
